We are proud to announce Kyla Joubert, MD as the 2016 recipient of the Scanlan / Women in Thoracic Surgery (WTS) award. This award allows a student or general surgery resident to work with a Woman Cardiothoracic Surgeon to gain enrichment and education through mentorship.
Thank you for visiting us at the 2016 AORN Surgical Conference and Expo in Anaheim, California. We look forward to seeing you next year in Boston!
SCANLAN® uses nitinol technology in its Memory Instruments and Garrett Memory Vascular Dilators and Vessel Probes. Nitinol is a metal alloy which is flexible and has shape memory. This means that the nitinol portion of the instrument can be bent by the user to a desired curved shape for use. The instrument will return back to its original shape when exposed to a temperature of 60°C – 90°C (140° – 194°F). Steam autoclaving exceeds this temperature and is the recommended method to return the nitinol portion of the instrument back to the original shape.
