The Alec Patterson, MD program’s mission is unique within the AATS Foundation and provides funding for scholarships for Surgeon-Scientists, research scholarships focused on thoracic and transplant surgery, grants to advance thoracic surgical practice in developed and developing countries, visiting Professorships, and lectureship at the AATS Annual Meeting focused on excellence in thoracic surgery. Dr. Patterson’s legacy will continue through a new generation of thoracic surgeons who will carry forward his innovative spirit, scholarly excellence, and global perspective on surgical care.
