We are proud to announce Dr. Rachel Lewis as the 2019 recipient of the WTS Brigid Scanlan Traveling Mentorship Award.

This award allows a student or general surgery resident to work with a Woman Cardiothoracic Surgeon to gain enrichment and education through mentorship.

Dr. Lewis is a third-year General Surgery Resident at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee (UTMCK), and she is currently completing a

one-year research fellowship in General Surgery at UTMCK.  She received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas in 2016.

She will be working with Dr. Andrea J. Carpenter at the University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio.
