The Peggy and
Dennis R Scanlan, Jr. Scholarship Program recognizes and
encourages academic excellence and honors the children
of company associates by aiding them in their efforts
to further their education.
Funded by Timothy M. Scanlan, this program is managed
without regard to race, religion, sex, or national origin.
Recipients are selected upon an evaluation
of scholarship applications and achievements in school
and community activities, academic performance (may include
class rank, grade point averages and test scores) and
work experience.
Peggy Ann Scanlan, a mother to nine children,
and a partner with her husband of over fifty years, knew
the importance of education. She ran the house-hold like
a corporation, and meant it to be "profitable";
the aim that every one of their children realize their
potential, to be a contributing citizen of this exciting
world. It is why this scholarship is named for Peggy Ann
and Dennis R. Scanlan, Jr. and presented in their names
and memories. |
Theirs was a true working relationship filled
with learning and laughter; you never stop learning... they
saw the tremendous opportunities presented by knowledge, the
joy that it gives, and the thirst it leaves for more. Where
there are children, young and old, with the curiosity, and desire
for knowledge that shines like a star in the night, the spirit
of Peggy and Dennis will live on, and this scholarship in their
names, provides the endless opportunity.

Dennis R. Scanlan, Jr.
Memorial Education Scholarship
Dennis R. Scanlan Jr. was a dynamic inventor, businessman, and
humanitarian who dedicated his life to improving the lives of
others.
This was accomplished through the innovative design of surgical
instrumentation, producing faster, more effective procedures resulting
in less trauma to the patient. When D.R. Scanlan identified a
need, he met the challenge to find a solution.
The AORN Scholarship Board, appointed by the AORN President,
selects scholarship recipients. The continued support of these
board members is most appreciated.
Funding for these scholarships is provided by generous donations
from companies and individuals. The AORN Foundation is most appreciative
of the financial support provided by these contributors. Their
continued support of the AORN Foundation helps to fulfill its
mission "to provide funds for education and research to enhance
perioperative nursing and patient care."
