May be used for lymph node dissection – with the instrument held in the surgeons left hand, the very distal jaw of this instrument can be used to grasp the outer capsule of a lymph node to lift it to facilitate dissection of the node to remove it with a dissector held in the surgeon’s right hand.
The very distal tips of the jaws may also be useful to grasp small tears in vessels to enable during suturing to control bleeding.
