SCANLAN® MEMORY Instruments are a unique hybrid instrument design of Nitinol and stainless steel.

Nitinol is a metal alloy which is flexible and has shape memory.  This means that when exposed to high temperatures, the nitinol portion of an instrument will return to the original shape.

Stainless steel is used for the handles of the SCANLAN® MEMORY Instruments to provide a sturdy, secure, non-flex grip.

The straight shafts of the SCANLAN® MEMORY instruments can be easily customized into a variety of curved shapes during the procedure to best fit the
patient’s anatomy.

After the procedure is complete, the straight shaft of the SCANLAN® MEMORY instrument is returned to its original straight shape when exposed to steam sterilization.

Curving the straight shaft of the SCANLAN® MEMORY instrument more than 110° may result in the inability of the shaft to return to a completely straight shape when exposed to steam sterilization.

Mirror Instrument

The Mirror Instrument is a very useful tool to improve visualization of the operative site when working in deep and / or confined surgical fields

• 1.5 X magnification enhances details and improves visualization of fine, delicate structures
• Provides indirect vision when direct visualization is difficult or impossible
• May be used to reflect light onto tissues that are poorly lit or shadowed
• Handle and detachable mirror securely connect with a SCANLAN® exclusive threaded mechanism

Nerve Hooks

Nerve hooks are versatile instruments which have many uses including:

• Manipulating valve leaflets to assess for size and prolapse
• Assessing integrity of subvalvular structures such as the chordae tendinae for stretching or rupture
• Selecting and separating out the next suture to be tied during an annuloplasty repair or valve replacement

Knife Bending Tool

Intended for use with the SCANLAN® MEMORY Knife Handle

• Allows the user to safely bend the nitinol portion of the MEMORY Knife Handle when a
  blade is attached
